about
An old song first written while with another band, newport beach has undergone several changes in arrangement until the karmaland version.
"I wanted to create a California feel, very laid back, cruising-type of beat. It's a far cry from the veritable punk version that it was in the first place," says Christopher.
"When we first did this song it was so loud, obnoxious and over-the-top that it was like a priest walking up and kicking you in the groin. You’d never expect it, and it didn’t really ‘fit’ with the synth-pop direction we were taking," says Ryan. "Chris wanted to bury it with his old KISS tapes, but was inspired to re-work it when I unplugged the guitars and mellowed it out."
lyrics
running on down our private beach
gazing through smoky eyes
any one mistake's too much to take
so tonight we live a lie

another time i’d love to make you mine
you could make my every dream come true oh yeah
in newport beach the sun shines down on everyone
but we can’t stop tide and time

everything's moving on automatic
watch my fingers run through her hair
getting caught up in this movie magic
something dangerous but i don’t care
wanting to tame the ocean and
promising another time
inside and out with you
is so divine

another time i’d love to make you mine
you could make my every dream come true oh yeah
in newport beach the sun shines down on everyone
but we can’t stop tide and time

strumming so soft a whisper
secrets in the night sky
holding close in eternal moments
feel the sting of a naked sigh

another time i’d love to make you mine
you could make my every dream come true oh yeah
in newport beach the sun shines down on everyone
but we can’t stop time and tide

forget about the past
does something this good ever last?
and i just can’t seem to take this off fast enough
i just can’t seem to get close enough
